Part 1: The 2-minute rules check (before every entry)

  • Organiser: Is a real company named, with an address and a contact option? If not – stop.
  • Terms & conditions: Can you find them, and do they state who may enter, the deadline and how the winner is drawn?
  • Deadline: Is there a clear end date? "Ending soon" with no date is a pressure trick.
  • Prize: Is the prize described exactly (model, value, number of winners)? Vague mega-prizes are a

Part 2: Scam red flags – stop immediately if you see these

    • You "won" a prize in a sweepstakes you never entered.
    • You are asked to pay fees, gift cards or "taxes" before receiving a prize. Real prizes never work this way.
    • Guaranteed-win language ("100% winner", "everyone wins a top prize").
    • Hard time pressure and countdowns that reset when they reach zero.
    • No terms, no organiser details, no contact page – or only an anonymous email.

Part 3: Your entry tracker (copy or print)

    Part 4: Protective habits

    • Use one dedicated email address just for sweepstakes – your main inbox stays clean and phishing is easier to spot.
    • Save every entry confirmation (screenshot or email) until the draw date has passed.
    • "No purchase necessary" means exactly that – a required payment is never part of a legitimate free entry route.
    • Stay calm: real organisers give you days to respond to a win notification. Anyone rushing you is suspect.

Remember: Winning is always a matter of chance and is never guaranteed. Enter for the fun of it, with your eyes open – that is exactly what this checklist is for. Good luck, honestly meant.

Fake Giveaway? Run These 7 Checks Before You Enter

You found a giveaway that looks perfect: a popular prize, a smiling winner in the photo, and a big "Enter now" button. Before you type in a single detail, pause. Most fake giveaways give themselves away in the first minute — if you know what to look for. (Advertising — we publish honest guides; the free checklist mentioned below is supported by sponsor offers.) The 7 checks, in order You do not need any special tools for this. Run through these seven points on the page itself, and stop the moment one of them clearly fails. 1. Official rules exist. A real giveaway links to written rules or terms: who runs it, who can enter, and when it ends. No rules at all is the single biggest warning sign there is. 2. A real organiser is named. Look for a company name, an imprint or "about" page, and a contact route that is not just a comment box. Anonymous pages have nobody who can be held responsible. 3. Entry is completely free. The moment a "prize" needs a ...

30-Sek...
